The artist we've chosen this week was born in 1984 into a musical family. Instruments were commonplace around the house, and when their father realised they were serious about performing, he became their agent and manager, pushing them to follow their dreams.
Success came at an early age. They landed supporting roles in tv shows while still in high school, and later had their own reality TV show on MTV.
But music was their real passion. They began writing in earnest, preparing demos and working on their songwriting, partnering with hit songwriters like Kara DioGuardi to write fiery pop-punk tracks for an upcoming album.
By 2005, their star was on the rise, and they even performed at a football half time show in front of 80,000 screaming fans.
It was all a lead up to the release of a 2005 album, which would go on to be certified platinum in their home country.
As it turns out, I'm describing the careers of both The Veronicas AND Ashlee Simpson, who released their albums The Secret Life Of... and I am Me, just one day apart in October 2005.
The main difference in those stories being unlike The Veronicas, Ashlee Simpson was summarily booed offstage when she performed at the Orange Bowl Half Time show.
Just what did Ashlee Simpson do to draw the ire of 80,000 people? How many emo phases did The Veronicas inspire with their debut album? And where does Lindsay Lohan fit into all of this?
We're gonna find out. Welcome to When Albums Collide
