Background
I was raised in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, a town I've come to discover most people on the planet have no idea exists. I’m the offspring of an Australian father and Chinese mother, and I can manage to order a beer or ask for the bathroom in either language. Broadcasting and media is a true passion, writing a bio for my own website is sadly not.
Employment
Most recently I have been employed at the ABC as part of their digital team as a journalist and producer. You can find some of my published work here.
I worked for almost five years as a host and producer at Radio Television Hong Kong - Radio 3, Hong Kong's public service broadcaster, where I hosted my own weekend radio show “The Juice”.
In addition, I've also produced and hosted a range of programmes on RTHK Radio 3, including youth oriented “Teen Time”, Australian music programme “The Oz Hour”, business focused "Money Talk" and a 2016 Olympic special “Rio Roundup”. I've also had the opportunity to host and present at many sports events around Hong Kong, from the annual Rugby Sevens to the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament.
I’ve worked extensively in Melbourne in both commercial and community radio, producing and announcing for Joy 94.9 as well as doing the odd shift here and there for 3RRR and 3AW as an on-air talent and producer respectively. I have also been employed as an broadcast panel operator and assistant producer across the Sports Entertainment Network, from Sydney’s 1170AM to 1116AM in Melbourne. I also served as SEN’s weekend news editor throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
I formerly produced the Annie and Ando Podcast for JOY 94.9 and produced the When Albums Collide Podcast for my own sick pleasure.
While still studying, I worked extensively in the newsroom of Hunter Valley regional radio station 2NUR-FM, as well as spending time with commercial station SunFM in Alice Springs as on-air talent. I've also worked in the newsroom of Imparja Television in Central Australia as a cadet journalist, researching and writing stories for broadcast.
I've also written a wealth of articles and feature stories for Time Out Hong Kong magazine, My story Reclaiming Hong Kong was nominated for a SOPA Award in Editorial Excellence in Environmental Reporting in 2015.
I also founded the Pigdon Street International Film Festival, which runs annually in Melbourne each year.
