Honestly, she didn't want to do the song. She had already done the theme song for the Beauty and the Beast, and honestly, she thought she might be pushing her luck doing another theme song. She The Beauty and the Beast had already won Grammys, Oscars, Golden Globes, what more could she really achieve?

But everyone seemed to really want her to do it. She'd worked with Simon Franglen on her 1993 album, so she knew he could pick out a hit. And her manager was adamant she should record a demo for the track, and he could usually be trusted. He was her husband after all.

So she recorded the demo. She hadn't done a demo in years. And if legend is to be believed, she recorded it all in one take.

This demo, a song she didn't really want to do, for a film she didn't really know much about, would go on to become her signature song. At 18 million copies sold, it's one of the best selling singles of all time, and the album it would later go on sold 31 million copies.

Grammys, Academy Awards, they all came once again. By the end of 1997, Celine Dion was just about the biggest pop star on the planet.

Let's Talk About Love, released November 14th 1997 is one of the best selling albums of all time and firmly established Celine Dion as a megastar. It went Number 1 in just about every country that had access to CD players, and it's lead single My Heart Will Go On has entered pop culture folk lore.

Which is why it's no wonder that Barbra Streisand's Higher Ground, released just three days earlier, is forgotten to time, despite selling 5 million copies.
